Beyond the millions of neon lights along the Las Vegas Strip, the city’s glitz and glamour extends to its live events, which include concerts, stage shows, and professional sports.
“When it comes to entertainment for groups, Las Vegas changes everything by taking the options to a whole new level,” says John Meyer, sales executive for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “Two things we would recommend for groups coming to Las Vegas are sporting events and our world-class entertainment.”
While Las Vegas has long hosted major sports competitions, from prize fights and UFC matches to the National Finals Rodeo and Professional Bull Riding, it has added professional sports teams to the mix recently. In the past two years, the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team and the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces have debuted, and this spring minor league baseball’s Las Vegas Aviators moved into a new stadium. In 2020 the National Football League’s Raiders will call Las Vegas home.
Meyer says the city’s entertainment scene also continues to expand.
“Whether you’re looking for spectacular stage shows like those by Cirque du Soleil to modern variety shows like ‘Absinthe’ or ‘OPIUM,’ or residencies by some of music’s biggest names including Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Aerosmith, Lady Antebellum, or, starting next year, Sting, we offer something for a range of groups.”
