Sioux Falls is the perfect “off the beaten path” group-tour destination. Located in Eastern South Dakota at the junction of Interstates I-29 and I-90, Sioux Falls is a mix of art, culture, history, and culinary exploration.
Below is a sample three-day itinerary of what your time in Sioux Falls could look like, but know that any itinerary can be customized to meet your group’s needs.
Day 1
Stensland Family Farms
Tour this family-owned dairy farm located just 30 minutes from Sioux Falls. The milk produced on this farm is used for ice cream, cheese, freshly bottled milk, and more. You can even sample the ice cream!
Good Earth State Park
This beautiful state park chronicles a day in the life of a village of 8,000-plus Indigenous peoples who inhabited the area from A.D. 1300 through 1700. The visitor center features exhibits focused on the cultural and historical significance of the site.
Falls Park
No visit to Sioux Falls is complete without seeing the city’s namesake, Falls Park. Take in the view of the park from atop the five-story observation tower. Afterwards, enjoy lunch at the Falls Overlook Café, where you can sample more offerings from Stensland Family Farms.
Washington Pavilion
The Washington Pavilion is the region’s home for the arts, entertainment, and science. This historical building is home to six galleries that feature changing exhibits. The Mary W. Sommervold Great Hall offers a wide variety of touring Broadway productions, musical performances, and more.
Day 2
Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum
The arboretum is a serene 155-acre plot with historical and cultural relevance, colorful remnants, stone quarries, rail lines, and building foundations. Learn about East Sioux Falls’ early days and the impact the quarry had on the beginning of what is now Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls State Theatre
The historical State Theatre was built in 1926 to showcase silent film and vaudeville performances. This majestic theater was a true destination with its iconic marquee and sophisticated Beaux Arts-inspired
design. It eventually closed in 1991 and fell into disrepair, but it has now been restored to its original grandeur.
