With 10 miles of sandy beaches and a national renowned boardwalk that’s been delighting guests since it debuted in 1902, Ocean City offers a scenic retreat for travelers.
“Ocean City remains a great place for groups, generation after generation. From the iconic sites that are timeless, such as Trimper’s historical carousel—one of the oldest operating in the country—and the Life-Saving Station Museum, to the newest beachside hotels, we have something for everyone’s beach flavor,” says Norma Dobrowolski of the Ocean City MD Department of Tourism. “That flavor also includes Boardwalk fries, cotton candy, and Maryland seafood; so everything from Boardwalk fare to fine dining can be found here.”
Three of the top attractions in the coastal city in southeastern Maryland are the Life-Saving Station Museum, the Harriet Tubman Visitor Center, and Assateague Island.
Both of the museums will be part of the city’s focus on women in 2020. There will be special exhibits at the Life-Saving Station Museum featuring the women who established the local hospitality industry, and the recently opened Tubman Center will offer a range of programming highlighting not only its namesake, but also other pioneering females.
During a visit to Assateague Island, which includes a coastal marsh and dunes area, groups can see the resident herd of horses. The ponies have survived the sometimes tough conditions to create a unique wild horse society along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
