Nestled in the heart of Kentucky’s Bluegrass region, Georgetown is a gem for group travelers looking for the complete Kentucky experience. Blending together equine culture, historic elegance, local flavor, and bourbon lore, this is your guide to seven of our must-visit attractions!

Old Friends: A Thoroughbred retirement sanctuary

Start your journey with a visit to Old Friends, a non-profit retirement farm for Thoroughbred racehorses and stars of the track. Founded over two decades ago, this unique attraction takes guests on a guided tour through racing history and brings them up close and personal with champion race horses, including the oldest living Kentucky Derby Winner, Silver Charm (1997 Winner), and I’ll Have Another (2012 Winner). The greatest part of the experience? Feeding these esteemed equine athletes carrots right out of your hand!

Guided group tours typically run 90 minutes and let you meet about 15 of these equestrian icons and share in the inspiring stories of their racing careers. It’s the perfect blend of emotion, education, and connection!

Toyota Kentucky Experience Center: Manufacturing meets innovation

Switching from horses to horsepower, our next stop is the Toyota Kentucky Experience Center, where groups can ride a guided tram through the largest Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility in the world. See where Toyota’s most popular and cutting-edge vehicles come to life, starting with rolls of steel and ending with a finished product driving out of the factory!

Ward Hall: Step into Antebellum elegance

No group trip to Georgetown is complete without a visit to Ward Hall, one of the finest examples of Greek Revival architecture in the South. This stately mansion—built in the 1850s—offers a rare glimpse into Kentucky’s pre-Civil War history and the life of one of its most flamboyant residents, Sallie Ward, a 19th-century socialite known as “The Belle of Louisville.”

Guided group tours lead you through grand parlors, sweeping staircases, and intricate woodwork while docents share stories of lavish parties, powerful politics, and the cultural climate of the era. The hall sits on 40 acres of scenic farmland, making it a stunning and serene photo stop. Pair the experience with an exclusive bourbon tasting in the gardens for a truly unique experience.

Kentucky Horse Park: The heart of horse country

For a deep dive into Kentucky’s proud equine heritage, the Kentucky Horse Park is a must. Just minutes from downtown Georgetown, this world-renowned facility is more than a park—it’s a working horse farm, international competition venue, and museum all in one.

Groups can experience live equine presentations, meet famous horses from all disciplines, and explore the International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian affiliate. Catch a horse-drawn trolley ride or attend one of the many seasonal events and festivals hosted on-site.

Downtown Georgetown: Small-town charm meets big flavor

After a day of sightseeing, downtown Georgetown is the perfect place for your group to unwind. This walkable district is packed with boutique shopping, local dining, and friendly Southern hospitality at every turn.

Explore, pick up some local goodies, and maybe even try getting crafty with a local art workshop! Refuel with an eclectic selection of restaurants offering hometown diners, sports bars, fine dining, and Southern comfort! Downtown Georgetown offers the kind of vibrant small-town vibe that makes you want to stay just a little longer.

Country Boy Brewing: A pint of Kentucky craft culture

No group getaway to Kentucky would be complete without a stop at a local brewery—and Country Boy Brewing delivers a true taste of the region. Founded by four country boys who loved beer and the Bluegrass, this beloved brewery crafts bold, flavorful brews with a distinctly Kentucky twist. Did we mention they have great food, too?

Their Georgetown taproom is spacious and welcoming for groups, with a rotating list of signature and seasonal beers like Cougar Bait Blonde and Shotgun Wedding Vanilla Brown Ale. Take a behind-the-scenes tour, relax on the patio, or sample a flight while swapping stories from your trip so far.

Farm Fun: Hands-on Adventures in the Bluegrass

Last but definitely not least—get your hands dirty (in the best way) with some good old-fashioned farm fun. Georgetown’s countryside is dotted with agritourism experiences that are perfect for groups, from seasonal u-pick adventures to immersive farm tours. Visit Evans Orchard and Cider Mill for apple cannons, hayrides, and more, or plan your trip around the fall activities at Bi-Water Farm & Greenhouse. It’s a wholesome, interactive way to connect with Kentucky’s agricultural roots—and perfect for photo ops and memory-making with your group.
