Transport back in time this summer from June 3 through Aug. 7 for the 13th Annual History Comes Alive season. Abraham and Mary Lincoln will lead a cast of characters for a trip back in time that you won’t want to miss. You can meet the Lincolns at historical sites throughout the city and hear about their lives in Springfield, listen to Abraham deliver some of his most famous speeches, or enjoy an ice cream social at Edwards Place, where the Lincolns visited their friends, Benjamin and Helen Edwards. There will be music, too, from a variety of performers as well as historical portrayals at locations like the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the Old State Capitol, New Salem, and Lincoln Tomb, with its flag-lowering ceremony each Tuesday evening during the summer, featuring the 114th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry Reactivated.

Listen to concerts at Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon, one of the largest carillons in the world. Visit the Illinois State Military Museum, where a veteran shares stories of service, and the nearby Springfield and Central Illinois African American History Museum, with appearances from important figures in African American history.
