In Greater Palm Springs, sun-kissed skies are always on the itinerary, but it’s the warm, welcoming, and inclusive spirit that keeps travelers coming back. Destination-wide initiatives ensure visitors of all abilities and backgrounds feel at home and find their oasis, whether it’s relaxing in a sparkling pool, exploring the local art scene, or dining under swaying palm trees.

Certified Autism Destination
Greater Palm Springs is proud to be the first Certified Autism Destination in Southern California, and one of only five worldwide. This designation, awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards, recognizes the destination’s commitment to creating sensory-friendly experiences for autistic and neurodiverse visitors.
To earn this certification, a representative number of tourism businesses completed IBCCES training. They now operate as Certified Autism Centers, including five hotels, 11 restaurants, and 12 attractions across the region. Staff at these locations are trained to accommodate sensory sensitivities and offer resources that help families and individuals feel confident and cared for.

Among the certified businesses are world-class attractions like The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens, where visitors can hand-feed giraffes and explore immersive animal habitats; the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert, which recently reopened with new exhibits and programs; and Acrisure Arena, a state-of-the-art entertainment venue that hosts music and sporting events throughout the year.
