Spokane for groups

Tucked away in eastern Washington near the state’s Idaho border, Spokane blends outdoor adventure with rich cultural experiences. Kate Hudson of Visit Spokane says top options in her area that play up those themes are guided rafting tours and programs highlighting the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.

“A river runs right through the Spokane downtown core, and groups will find it easy to access the outdoors,” she says. “A guided rafting tour on the Spokane River is a great way to see both the city and nature.”

Two local outfitters—Wiley E. Waters and ROW Adventures—take travelers out on the water for paddling adventures. Wiley E. Waters’ primary whitewater tour, which includes Class III rapids, goes from April to early July, and float tours are offered from May to October.

ROW Adventures has a half-day float trip of its own from June to September that covers the Lower Spokane River. Two versions of the company’s popular Float & Wildlife Happy Hour are available during those same months.

Thanks to programs offered at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort & Hotel, culture vultures can find out more about the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, which has called the Spokane/Worley, Idaho, area home for thousands of years.

“The Coeur d’Alene Tribe has created incredible cultural experiences for groups,” says Hudson. “Guests can learn how to make their own beaded pouch, take a guided hike on tribal homelands, or spend a day touring the Steptoe Battle site with local historians and tribe members.”
